Jody grew up on a dairy farm in Dobson, NC. He has pitched hay, picked tobacco, and cleaned stalls. In high school, he was a three-time state champion in running. Jody is no stranger to hard work and determination. Today, Jody Mitchell practices law with those same principles of early-to-rise, hard work, tenacity, and family values that he learned growing up in Surry County.
He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia in 2001 and his law degree from the Appalachian School of Law in 2004, where he was a Dean's List student and Cum Laude graduate.
Today, Jody attends the Fairview Church of Christ, has a wife who is also an attorney, and has the joy of a young son.
Renae earned her bachelor's degree at the University of Radford in 2022 and her doctorate from the Appalachian School of Law in 2005. She is licensed to practice law in both North Carolina and Virginia. Renae was also admitted to United States District Court for Western District of Virginia Federal Bankruptcy Court in 2007.
